BETHANYRESTAURANTS.COM REVIEW
This is an eclectic American/Seafood restaurant where the owners work hard at making the dining experience pleasant for their patrons. The owners often stop by the tables to make sure all is ok. Many things on the menu are very good to excellent, but a few are more like standard bar fare. There is something on the menu for everyone. Overall we, and many locals, like this restaurant for its consistency, good food, and great customer service, though it can be a tad noisy. It is very popular in the summer months and reservations are not taken so plan accordingly. It also has two bar areas with lots of tvs if you just want a beer and some food. There is also entertainment some weekend nights after the dinner hours. Located in Millville across from the fire station. Open year round.

Been here many times each time worse than the other. I will not be going back. Food is horrible service mediocor at best very loud not comfortable seating. They must have a new cook because the food was never that bad.

It's been a couple of years since we've been to the Fat Tuna. It's much busier than before. The food hasn't changed much, but the service is poor. Great place to eat if you have small kids. The noise in the place will drown out any disturbances your kids create. As in other reviews, the service and attitude aren't much to write home about.

Reading these reviews is certainly entertaining. Funny that Steve and Long Time Local have the exact same writing style, and a penchant for CAPITALIZATION. I'm guessing that they are one in the same. Either way, the TUNA isn't so BAD. Food's pretty good and the place is unique in its own way. The owner/management needs to get a grip. Your enthusastic defense only arouses suspicion and invites more criticism. Pay more attention to running a good operation and providing the type of service you claim the Tuna has. Actions speak louder than words...

I'm not one to write reviews, but after some of the unfair reviews that my favorite place has received, I felt it was necessary. I've been going to the "TUNA" as most of the locals refer to it as since it opened around 7 years ago. The food has always been great, as well as the service. We've had some issues over the years, but I will say that the management has always dealt with them promptly, and exceeded our expectations every time. Which is more than I can say for some of the other local restaurants. Almost every time we are there a manager visits our table to check on us, and we notice that the manager also visits just about every other table to do the same. Where else does this happen? Especially in a restaurant this size? As for the noise that everyone complains about... Come on people, its a restaurant that probably seats 400 or more people, and they cater to families and large parties, its going to be noisy. If you don't like the noise, ask to sit in their small private room at the front or on their outdoor patio, or now I think they even have tables in the sand at their patio. We often do this when we take my Mother in law along with us. The prices are fair, yes I agree that some items are expensive, but they use FRESH seafood, and I know for a fact that they buy FRESH local produce when they can. One of the owners told me that they are even growing their own produce this year. All in all, the tuna is my families favorite and we think you'll agree..

Absolutely horrible. Food is average. Place is loud. Service is marginal. The staff knows nothing about customer service. It's basically a huge, expensive, fast food restaurant with less class.

We have had our last meal at the Fat Tuna. The food is very good as is the service and pricing but the atmosphere is horrible. The noise is so loud that you cannot enjoy conversation along with a decent meal. It is so bad that the couple that we were dinning with said never again and this was their first and now only visit.

BEACHBUM... Thank you for your review and your continued support, it's greatly appreciated. Obviously someone out there that didn't take the time to read ALL of my posts and responses to the comments left on this site. I do care what my guests have to say, and I care even more when one of them spends their hard earned money and doesn't get the experience that they deserve or that I expect my staff to provide. I have asked the operator of this site numerous times to provide an avenue for the person making the post to be able to elect to provide contact information for the restaurant they are posting about, so that the management of that particular place may respond to them if they desire. But they have elected not to provide such a means, and I respect that. So, I choose to respond to them the only way I am able, by replying in this way. I assure you MILO that no ones eyes are closed. Most guests would appreciate the fact that the management or the owners of a particular place would take the time to read the comments that are posted on the various sites, let alone comment on them. But it seems that you take offense to it. Strange.

When you have to tell someone to "open their eyes or minds" it portends two things: (1) quality and service is so abysmal that the good points are not ascertainable or (2) you, yourself had to expend an inordinate amount of effort to see past what appears obvious to other people. Either way, this board is for individual reviews. I find that rabid defense of an establishment, particularly when it comes to dining, is an example of not accepting the opinion of the customer. That is precisely why the Tuna is getting bad reviews. Any restaurant should succeed or fail on its own merits. It appears thet other businesses aren't getting the poor reviews that the Tuna has earned. Customers are expected to give individual opinions. Until a see a sign on the front door that says "under new management", this customer still gives the Tuna a thumbs down.

I don't know what people are talking about when they complain about the food or service. I love the fat tuna, i have never had bad service or bad food. I love this restaurant, maybe people need to open their eyes or their minds so they see what an awesome place this is!!!

Have been eating at Fat Tuna 4 years since buying a Summer place. Use to really love it, was a frequent diner club member, but noticed quality slowly slipping. Ate there last weekend, probably for the last time. So noisy that we jumped at being seated outside "on the sand" Happy to see menu updated, though pricier - $11.00 for a burger? Had a pleasant but inattentive server & food was ok at best. Maybe we just remembered it being better, maybe it's the economy, but not in any hurry to go back. Looked fairly busy, so they'll never miss us.

Unfortunately I've also had some bad experiences at the Tuna. The food is Ok. Just OK. I'd agree with the others that the service could be a tad better. It appears that Steve doesn't take criticism too well. Maybe that's why his staff seems less than friendly. I could take the mediocre food or the bad attitude, but I won't take both. The area has too many other good places to dine.

If you accidentally find yourself in this place, run away asa fast as you can. The food is marginal and overpriced. The staff is absolutely uninterested. Poor service and unresponsive. Food served was bad. Fried oysters were 90% bread. I chalked it up as a mistake that I won't make again. You shouldn't either.

We're year-round, born and bred here locals and go to Fat Tuna probably 8-10 times a year. The food is usually very good. The Happy Hour wings are THE BEST for taste and value. The only problem that keeps us from giving FT a 5 star review is that, even though the staff is friendly enough, it seems as if they hire directly from high school. If you are unfortunate to be seated near any of the "gathering areas" for waitresses while they await their customer's orders you will be overwhelmed listening to them gossip about their, Like, you know, personal, like, lives and OMG, their, like, boyfriends and their, like, parents. It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out. We have always had the impression that the staff is hired for appearance and not experience. Maybe the management should have their wait staff stop gathering in certain corners when there are customers close by ;) Other than that, we would and do recommend FT to friends.

LuvmyLuLu it's been 4 Years since your last visit and you're just now posting a review? Wow.. seems a little harsh doesn't it? Pretty sure that most of the public would agree. And your review is way out of line with most people comments about our staff. You may have had an isolated incident with my staff, but I assure you that your comments are not typical. In fact we almost never get a negative comment about our service team, quite the contrary. If things were as bad as you make them sound we probably wouldn't still be around after 7 years. Seems to me that you might just be a bitter person, that has nothing better to do with their time.. THANK YOU for giving your gift card to someone else to enjoy.

I could walk to this place, it's so close, but I refuse to because the wait staff is the rudest I've ever encountered. They act bothered or annoyed whenever you ask for something. We ate dessert at the bar one night, and the bar was so gross. I had to ask the bartender for a rag so I could wipe it down. You would think she would wipe it down for me or have someone do it. We had a gift certificate and we ended up giving it away to someone else because we won't be back. Last time we tried it was 4 years ago, and it was the same. We're locals, so you think they'd try to teach their staff how to earn a tip.

I just want to say that I think it is terrific that the Fat Tuna management is being responsive to customer comments here. All the Bethany area restaurants should be monitoring the customer feedback and responding as appropriate so that the customers have a sense that a restaurant is really trying to do well and improve whenever possible. It also fosters customer loyalty. My next eat out in Bethany will definitely be at the Fat Tuna as my little token of appreciation for the customer concern and follow up. Steve: I do not know you, but keep up the good work.

Love the outdoor dining. Inside is too noisy due to the fact it was a lumber building before. Food is good and priced well. I am disappointed that they have changed my favorite dish this year. They should not mess with something that is great the way it was. Service is quick and the servers are always excellent. Never have to wait too long to get seated during the week.

Had another fine meal here last night. Two of the 3 in our 3 some loved their meals. One was a little disapponted with the sauce used on the ribs. Overall a good dining experience.

Biggest love hate relationship I've ever had with a restaurant. We eat there alot, and mostly at the bar. The bar food is tasty and a good value and so are the drink specials. The bar atmosphere is great. The restaurant food itself is mostly over priced and often very average. The quality of the dishes is variable. So you never know what you're going to get. BUT the brunch buffet is good and sometimes we both end up with a good dinner and just love the place. One pet peev is the hostesses who seem to have a chip on their shoulders. The servers however are very good and friendly. We've always had good service at the Tuna.

After a brief respite from eating here, the wife and I went here for dinner with another couple over the recent holidays. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the menu had been updated with new and some cheaper items. While we did miss a few of our old favorites, all of us tried new items on the menu and we were all very pleased with the result. I think the restaurant made a very nice adaptation to the current economy.
