BETHANYRESTAURANTS.COM REVIEW
This is an eclectic American/Seafood restaurant where the owners work hard at making the dining experience pleasant for their patrons. The owners often stop by the tables to make sure all is ok. Many things on the menu are very good to excellent, but a few are more like standard bar fare. There is something on the menu for everyone. Overall we, and many locals, like this restaurant for its consistency, good food, and great customer service, though it can be a tad noisy. It is very popular in the summer months and reservations are not taken so plan accordingly. It also has two bar areas with lots of tvs if you just want a beer and some food. There is also entertainment some weekend nights after the dinner hours. Located in Millville across from the fire station. Open year round.

WE HAVE BEEN GOING THERE 10YEARS+,THIS IS HORRIBLE.
WORST STAFF-WARM FOOD,WON'T RETURN.
What are you people doing??? I was in Saturday night with my girlfriends for dinner. Hadn't been in since last time I was down in Novemeber. New menu is all sandwiches. plus it looks like a greek diner menu. What is going on with the Fat Tuna? I heard the place was sold. Great. But come on. You might as well call it the fat stuffed grape leaf. Thought you guys were Mexican. The place certainly isn't the same and my opinion isn't worth much but I doubt you'll make it through the summer. RICE PUDDING WITH CHERRIES?? Is it 1983? am I in a Greek Nightmare? Then to top it all off the DJ starts and lets just say the atmosphere changed and I thought I was suddenly transported to center city Baltimore. Not what we've grown to know and love of Fat Tuna. On a positive note. I love the TV's in the dining room. Go PHILLIES!
I AGREE WITH SAD.. TOOK THE FAMILY THERE SATURDAY FOR DINNER. WE WERENT AWARE THAT IT HAD BEEN SOLD. BUT I DEF AGREE THAT THE STAFF SEEMED ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE. WHICH WAS A MAJOR CHANGE FROM WHAT WE HAD ALWAYS EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST. THIS WAS ONE PLACE WE ALWAYS KNEW THAT THE STAFF WOULD BE POLITE, AND OUTGOING. IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM THE SAME. OUR FOOD WAS OK BUT IT SEEMED THAT THE PORTIONS WERE SMALLER. THE MENS ROOM WAS FILTHY, WHICH WAS A HUGE CHANGE. FAT TUNA ALWAYS HAD THE NICEST CLEANEST BATHROOMS IN THE AREA. MY WIFE IS VERY FUNNY ABOUT RESTROOMS AND ALWAYS COMMENTED IN THE PAST ON HOW CLEAN THE RESTROOMS WERE. OH WELL. MAYBE THE NEW PEOPLE ARE ADJUSTING. IT WILL BE AWHILE BEFORE WE TRY IT AGAIN.
Dear SAD
Give me a break. May have its problems now, but dont make it something it wasnt before.
Where did the old owners go? Almost overnight our favorite place has gone so far down hill we will probably never go back. We took our friends there Friday night and couldn't believe the difference. The place was filthy, the entire staff seemed miserable our food was barely warm and you could tell the portion sizes had been changed. The staff was always so pleasant here before ,but now everyone was just miserable. We did not have a manger visit our table as we had always had happen before the new ownership had taken over. In fact we didn't see a manager anywhere. I'm sorry but its just not the same and we won't be back. We miss you Steve Michelle and Carl. Where have you gone?
I've lived at the shore all my life. I know what fresh is. This place is a far from fresh as I can tell. It's a large dining place. NOT a high end restaurant. My tuna was gray and tasteless. The other orders in my party were ok, but let's not pretend that this place is the best around. Not even close. Its a good value for a family.
Great consistent food and service.. best overall value in my opinion in the area.
We have eaten here quite a few times, and we find the service & food excellent. We never had to wait, the waitresses were very nice, and the food was great. We have been in the restaurant business for decades, so we know what we are talking about. Try Fat Tuna-you won't be disappointed!
Definitely not on my 'go to' list. The bar is pretty good for a cold beer and an appetizer, but the dining room is loud and the service is terrible. Entrees are not that great. Definitely not gourmet dining as some would have you think. I agree with many others. Go into Bethany. Ther are many more choices and the prices aren't higher.
We have been coming to the FT since it opened and the food is pretty consistent...love the pistacio chicken and the parmesan tilapia...excellent servers, reasonable prices, a bit loud but no big deal...great family spot with outdoor play area for the kiddies..you will spend twice as much downtown Bethany.
chloe was our server and she was wonderful. she asked the manager if they could give me a discount since it was my bday and i left the coupon at home-- definetly we will be back--
I seldom make time for reviews - but a friend told me about the funny "fish lover" review - so, I am here. As I read through some of these reviews I was a bit baffeled by the constant naming of "wonderful" staff...seems suspicious enough. I also want to state for the record, I was impressed by our server, hte owner who stopped by to check on us - her name escapes me - and the food was good and served in a timely manner. It is a big, open and noisy space - so if you want cozy this won't be your regular haunt...The overly sweet reviews are not valid in my mind and neither are the nasty reviews---throw out the extreme messages and give it a whirl - it's down to earth, real and fairly priced. good spot for those from ages 1 -99.
I'm going to have to agree with the Captain. I also believe that negative reviews are part of what makes this forum legitimate. Sorry cc. If you can't take the criticism, you might want to up your game a little. The place is not that great. Just an observation.
hmm to captain obvious maybe its possible that the reviews have specic servers mentioned in them because the SERVERS made such good impressions on those writing the reviews. woah..... what a concept.....
don't try to take that away from the servers who earned it because someone ****** in your cheerios.
stop being a hater and take a seat in line with all of the other people waiting for someone to give a **** about their negativity.
dont come back if you can't find something nice to say, because it's pretty 'obvious', captain, that there are multitudes of people that have thoroughly enjoyed their recent dining experiences, as I and my family have for many years.
Oh my God. The Fat Tuna is NOT considered fine dining. Management is so bad that they write all these reviews. Notice the similarities in writing style? Using specific employee names? No other reviews are quite like these. The place is OK. The management is missing in action as shown by the bad service. They only hire young kids because adults won't put up with crappy treatment. The food is as mediocre as ever and will only improve is business starts drying up.
We frequent The Fat Tuna Grill when in Bethany Beach. The food is consistently good. Our server, Chloe, had a great sense of humor and quick wit. She really made the dining experience an enjoyable one. We will be back again.
I went to The Fat Tuna last Friday during the 4th of July week. I am from Lock Haven, PA, and my family decided to go out to eat the last night we were in town. We were sat right away and our drink orders were taken very quickly. Our server Margo Carey had a bright smile on her face and took our orders and answered all of our questions. The food came out quickly and EVERYONE was satisfied. It was very enjoyable, and a relaxing end to a crazy week. Thanks!
I came to Fat Tuna and immediately fell in love with the tank of fish inside the door. I'm a fish lover you see. I love eatin it and seein them so I loved being greeted by those friends at the door. The hostess was alright too. We were seated and our server Margo reminded me of a fish. Not a fat tuna but something more hospitabler like a clown fish. She was so nice and helpful and delivered us our delicious fish food. I had a lovely time and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Great drinks too!
On the fourth of July my family and I dined at The Fat Tuna Grill and it was absolutely wonderful. Our server was Margo and she was the definition of a perfect server. Her bubbly personality was contagious and my normally grumpy family seemed to have more fun because of it. The Fat Tuna grill is an outstanding establishment and Margo is the most amazing server I have ever had.
I dined at the Fat Tuna last night and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the scallops and was very satisfied with the dish! The service was great though I don't recall the servers name (petite brunette, very cute). Once at the bar, I was immediately greeted by Alli and Shane who were gracious enough to lead me to one of best frozen piņa colada I've had yet! The atmosphere, the dj, the bartenders and food all contributed to a great night! This was my first time here but certainly not my last. Thanks for the wonderful dining experience, cheers!
Service was outstanding. Chloe, our waitress, went out of her way to make our dining experience pleasurable. Food was very good and the pricing reasonable. Will definitely be back.
Went to the Fat Tuna before te magic show tonight...they got us in and out and the food was delicious. Tried some of the items on the feature sheet... veal bolognese and mahi mahi tacos... Highly reccomend them both. Thanks Natalia, for the great service!
Have been to The Fat Tuna Grill on several occasions and have had amazing food, exceptional service and a great atmosphere. The outside bar is the best around and is also very kid friendly. On my most recent visit was told it would be a 30 min. wait but was seated in 15 and received great service from Chloe. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We've been going to The Fat Tuna since it opened several years ago and had another fabulous family friendly dinner there earlier this week. The new kids play area outside was perfect for our young children. The service was friendly and attentive. The scallop entree was excellent! Looking forward to going back again soon.
We love FAT TUNA it is great food and service also the bread sticks they put on the table when you sit down also the fish tank is cool we always take pics of everyone by it also we love to go out back and play corn hole our ring toss also the bathrooms are very clean it is a great place to go
Our waitress, Laurie, was very helpful and accomodating and the food is always delicious. We continue to come back to the restaurant whenever we're in the area.
My family has been renting in the Bethany area for years. We had been to Fat Tuna once before this about 2 years ago. Let me tell you the difference my family has seen is astounding! We were thrilled to see some new menu items on the paper features sheet. It would be nice to continue to see a variation in menu options... Possibly some farm-to-table recipes with local vegetables and fruits. Apparently the "vegetable of the day" is the same....everyday.. Let's see more things like the kabobs and the bouillabaisse soup!! The new kids area and outdoor patio will be the reason next time. The face painting adds a wonderful touch!
This was our first time at fat tuna. Food was good and; the waitress.., Lindsay, was excellent. The food came out fast despite the restaurant being very busy. The Mahi Mahi and the fish tacos were great.
We have a place nearby and this is one of our favorite places to go. Great menu choices for kids and adults. Love the new outside play area for kids. We were just there for dinner on 7/1 and Chloe did a great job serving our table. This place never gets old for us.
The food as always was very good. Our waitress Chloe, was super. She was pleasant and extremely attentive. Hope to have her wait on us again soon.
Not "great" but better than "good." Have been coming for years and find the food reliable and fresh. Last night had a beautiful hunk of tuna. The tuna crisps appetizer was unexpectedly sophisticated for this place but way more wonton crisps than tuna. The service (or customers' moods) must be highly variable to see poor reviews below - our server, Kayla, was friendly, attentive and professional. Yes, it's noisy, but as long as you know that going in, you can live with it. Or come in February.
I brought my family in on 7/1 Just for drinks and appetizers. We had five children and four adults and intended to sit outside. It was so hot we were THAT table that kept moving. Our server outside was so sweet when we eventually moved inside. Unfortunately we didnt get her name. Inside we had Michelle. She was adorable and very attentive. We are a family of people in the restaurant business and appreciate great service when we see it. We wanted you to know we havent been in in some time but because of the service (and food) tonight we will back again and again.
Thank you,
Barb Sunderlin
Food was delicious!!! Emily was our waitress and the service was great...we will definitely come back again! I highly recommend the kabobs they have in the features.
I had the best time and enjoyed the bartender Jenn Girouard. The food is amazing and beer is ice cold. They have a outside play area for kids.
Chicken parmesian, ugh. Chicken decent, green beans ok, sauce like it just came out of a cheap market can. Spaghetti was worst I have ever had. Been here many times and a few are acceptable but this time, just terrible. Chloe did a decent job.
I'll bet the owner writes the good reviews. I've been several times over the years and the place has never changed. The menu is virtually the same as it's been except for the prices, which seem to rise every year. The Tuna is staffed by young kids that couldn't care less about service or quality. The food os OK. Not great, not bad, just OK. This is a huge fast food place. That's all. It doesn't even rate up there with Red Lobster, which is also 'OK'.
Absolutely loved The Fat Tuna! I just bought a beach house near by and have found my new favorite place. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is great, and they have a great projector screen for sports! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is considering it.
Bullwinkle...you are way off base. This place iz great.. had a great meal over the weekend. They go out of their way to accomodate families. And they just added an incredible kids play area outside... there is NO better place in bethany to take your family for dinner... and check out their sunday brunch buffet..cant be beat. Keep up the good work
Our family has never felt more welcome than this evening at Fat Tuna. Our granddaughter was quite tired after a full day and as soon as we entered Fat Tuna, our evening became more relaxed - the manager, Maddy, was at our side and entertaining our little "princess." The server, Jillian, could not have been more attentive or helpful. The food was delicious - and with our whole gang, that's saying a lot! Maddy (super nanny and manager) suggested the Pistachio Chicken - I was uncertain, but it was amazing! We were thrilled to learn of the soon to open Pirate Ship in the out door sand! This place caters to families and singles alike. The bright open atmosphere and friendly staff made our night. We are "card carrying" rewards members and plan to rack up the points :)
I think Alice's review below is way too harsh. I have been eating at the Fat Tuna since it opened. There have been occasional mishaps with our dining experience over the years, as is true of any restaurant, but I have never found the place in any way disgusting. Nor have I experienced any of the specific items Alice complains about. Perhaps Alice went there on an "off" day, or she was having an "off" day herself. Having said that, I do think the Fat Tuna has lost some of the food and service quality it had when it first opened. But I also see this at several other area restaurants as well. Food portions are smaller, prices have increased, service has suffered. I think the prolonged economic downturn has had a marked negative effect on the restaurant business.
