We have tried Mango's, on the BB boardwalk, many times and have been consistently disappointed with the quality of the food. It is ok vacation beach food for the family, which seems to be the targeted customer. However, the ocean views from the outside dining, or from the booths along the windows, are spectacular ( and now with the heightened dunes, this is perhaps the only place in Bethany to dine and see the ocean). Crowded in the summer mainly because of its location and the ocean view. There is a small bar area in the middle of the restaurant which seems to have a loyal following of locals. One additional note. On April 4 and 5 of 2009 10 different 5 star and one 4 star reviews of Mango's were posted by patrons. This site has never had that many reviews posted for any restaurant in such a short time. It was very suspicious that all were 4 or 5 stars, but then "Alex" of Mango's explained that these reviews were solicited from Mango's partrons during a music event at the restaurant. Thanks to Alex for clearing that up and making sure everyone understands what happened. Notwithstanding these very favorable reviews, we here at BR.com stand by our own independent review based on many dining experiences. Alex: We will try Mango's several times again this season ( indeed we visit all Bethany area restaurants several times over the course of a season ) and will update our review accordingly.

Wanted a cold beer Sunday afternoon after being on the beach for a few hours. Waiting for more then 15 minutes at the bar with WITH 5 OTHER PEOPLE STANDING with only 1 bartender who was waiting on tables totally sucked. Never Again.
sonny - posted: Monday, September 6th, 2010 @ 8:05 pmHad a great meal on Monday 8/24. Family of six - Fish tacos, chicken quesidalla, veggie burger, salad and chicken sandwich. Everyone liked their dishes. Fish tacos were great! Beers were nice and cold! No complaints.

Will - posted: Sunday, August 22nd, 2010 @ 7:06 pmIt should be a crime to have such a beautiful view and such a lousy restaurant. I have been coming to Bethany for the past 42 years, and I'd rather eat the dried roast beef of Holiday House over the nonsense Mango's tries to pass off as food.
We haven't had luck with them on numerous occasions, but being the eternal optimists thought we'd try again. Where to begin... the flies were numerous and disgusting (get some fly strips, guys). The wine was mediocre at best, and the wine glasses were smudged. The food, oy the food... the nachos were soggy, the fish was over-cooked, the salad was soggy, and the dip was tasteless. The only, and I mean only redeeming factors were one mixed drink and a decent beer list.
Come on, y'all. Just because you own the best view on the boardwalk, don't ruin it with horrific food. Read the reviews of restaurants that are popular - people gladly pay up to $100 for two people to dine out. Raise the prices, order quality ingredients, include something the little ones will actually eat, and hire some real chefs. You'd be doing the entire town a favor!

Food is average at best, but the drinks make up for it. They know how to make em right. The bartender was beatiful...which didnt hurt either

The food is terrible, i was looking forward to come great Caribbean food but it was a complete let down. And they didn't really even have much besides carribean food chooses.....my kids don't like the place at all. It was crazy crowded which is understandable, but the service was terrible the staff didn't seem to care much at all. I have a place in Bethany & have been coming to the beach for over 30 years....so i've dined at this restaurant many times & the same experience(thats why we no longer go). I will say the atmosphere is great, and the look of the restaurent is really worth a trip in but i would suggest lunch, the prices are cheaper & it isn't as crowded so the service might be be
Jennifer - posted: Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 @ 5:00 pmThe food here isnt the best. I had their crab dip and it was really fishy tasting and cold in the middle. The coconut shrimp was good. The size of the drinks are great though. I would go back for drinks only.

One thing I could forgive -- but not two in the same meal. Bar crowd was so loud you could not have a pleasant conversation. I do not recommend.
